The National Association of Town Watch, the Coalition of Neighborhood Organizations (CONO), Dove Community Services / Decatur Area Project, and the City of Decatur, will sponsor the 31st Annual National Night Out (NNO) on August 5th, 2014, beginning at 5:00 p.m. and ending at approximately 8:00 p.m. The NNO campaign involves over 15,700 cities in all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases around the world. In Decatur it involves local government officials, citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, and businesses that will travel in a caravan to 3 local parks with the nearest neighborhoods collaborating with the Decatur Park District, Target, and each other to present activities. The kickoff will start with a BRIEF press conference at the Civic Center at 5:00 pm then travel according to the following schedule:
We invite you to choose a gathering to attend or attend them all. This year’s celebration caravan will feature: Fireman Dave, and giveaways at each stop, including gift cards, and awards for individual Neighborhood Anti-Crime Ambassadors. Residents throughout the city can participate even if they are not attending organized events by spending the evening out talking and getting to know their neighbors and showing support by turning on porch lights 7:00 – 10:00 pm to light up the night and say good-bye to crime!
