Archer Daniels Midland Company recently donated $7,500 to Dove, Inc. The donation will go toward updates to the Domestic Violence Shelter, Decatur.

“This generous donation through ADM Cares will allow us to do needed updates to the Shelter, focusing on the client’s kitchen,” said Barbara Blakey, Director of Volunteers and Community Relations from Dove, Inc. “This outdated area will be safer and easier to use for client and their children, staying in the shelter. These funds coming to us to make needed improvements is a perfect highlight to National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, held each October.”

In its 46th year, Dove is committed to helping people meet their social and personal needs. More than 60 religious organizations in Decatur and Central Illinois jointly sponsor Dove. Dove offers the BABES (Beginning Awareness Basic Education Studies), Domestic Violence, MAX (Macon County Assistance eXchange) and the Retired and Senior Volunteer (RSVP) programs. In collaboration with other agencies, Dove administers the Homeward Bound and the DeWitt Assistance eXchange (DAX) programs; and sponsors coat and Christmas basket drives. Volunteers and supporter make this social service agency a strong partner in meeting needs of those living in central Illinois.

The donation was given through ADM Cares. ADM Cares is a social investment program that directs funds to initiatives and organizations that drive meaningful social, economic and environmental progress worldwide. The program comprises three distinct focus areas: supporting the responsible development of agriculture, improving the quality of life in ADM communities and fostering employee giving and volunteer activities.
